In a seminar that blended personal passion with professional insights, Ms. Yamilette CANO, Founder of Louder Global, captivated over 170 business students at the HKBU School of Business on 11th February 2025. This event was part of the Entrepreneurship Seminar Series organised by the School’s Entrepreneurship andInnovation Centre (EIC).
Transitioning from a 20-year dance career to an entrepreneur, Ms. CANO discussed the challenges she faced, emphasising the importance of finding one’s “ikigai”—the balance between what you love, what you are good at, and what people are willing to pay for. To achieve this, she encouraged students to work with mentors to identify their strengths and passions, and to explore new interests for career satisfaction.
Drawing from her experiences of moving to various countries and eventually settling in Hong Kong, where she met influential individuals who guided her entrepreneurial journey, Ms. CANO inspired students to build strong networks and adopt an entrepreneurial mindset. She stressed the power of networking and making the right connections, urging students to be proactive, innovative, and flexible in their careers.
The seminar, moderated by Dr. Marta DOWEJKO, Director of EIC, is part of the School's efforts to provide students with valuable insights from successful entrepreneurs, helping them to navigate their own career paths with confidence and creativity.
