A 6-hour Solution-based Business Competition

About Startup Hackathon

Hackathon is a solution-based business competition that brings together teams with the common goal of quickly solving problems which many businesses are facing. Participants will propose their solutions to the problems in a very limited of time. It is a project-based learning opportunity for students to show creativity and team spirit, as hackathon pursues creative solutions and also the synergy between different skills and abilities.


Objective

University students are tomorrow’s business leaders; they should be better prepared to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing global business environment. Entrepreneurship is a skill for life!

Eligibility

The Hackathon is open to:

  • HKBU full-time students (self-funded/sub-degree programmes at undergraduate/postgraduate level)
  • Non-HKBU full-time students (self-funded/sub-degree programmes at undergraduate/postgraduate level)
  • HKBU graduates (graduated from 2019 to 2021)
  • Any team consists of at least 1 HKBU student/graduate

Venue

TriAngle, 306, David C Lam Building, Shaw Campus, HKBU


Selection

Each team is required to submit a video (3 - 5 minutes)

  • To introduce your team
  • To show your motivation of joining the Hackathon
  • To explain why your team should be selected to the Hackathon

Notes to Participants
  • Participants must apply as a team (2 – 4 members).  No individual application will be considered.
  • There are 2 questions and 2 Champions in the Hackathon

Terms and Conditions
  • Personal information collected will only be used for the purpose of application, verification and communication.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to use all or any parts of the entries in promotional campaigns. In all cases, no specific notification or payment will be given to the entrants.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to amend the program of the rules and regulations.
  • Should there be disputes, the Organiser reserves the right to the final decision.

  • Application Period: October 4 to 31, 2021
  • Application Deadline: October 31, 2021 (Sun)
  • Video Submission Deadline: October 31, 2021 (Sun)
  • Result Announcement: Nov 5, 2021 (Fri)
  • Hackathon: November 13, 2021 (Sat) (Full Day)

Prizes & Awards
  • 2 Champions – HK$5,000 for each team
  • 4 Merit Prizes – HK$1,000 for each team
