ABOUT BIG

Dean's Cup Business Innovation Gymnasium (BIG) is a business idea competition which provides a platform for students to develop their business ideas.

Since September 2017, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre (EIC) of the School of Business hosted 10 BIG rounds with 900+ student participants.

Starting from April 2023, the competition has been transformed into a startup bootcamp. The competition offers a strong mentoring component with the aim to upskill students through immersive and interactive learning provided by a team of dedicated mentors.

GUIDELINES AND ELIGIBILITY
 

1. The competition is open to all HKBU students with the requirement that at least one of the team members must be the School of Business student at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
2. The maximum team size is 5.
3. Business ideas should have never been presented in the final round of BIG in previous years.
4. However, previous finalists are welcome to participate again with new business idea.

APPLICATION of BIG 11.0

For Team Leader

Stage 1: Submit the Registration Form on or before 30 January 2026

1. Read the Guidelines and Eligibility carefully.
2. Write down your name and other information on the form.
3. Write down your idea name on the form.
4. You are not required to submit the information of your team members at this stage.
5. One team to complete one form only.
6. Submit another form if you have 2 or more ideas.

Stage 2: Submit the Application Form, Proposal and Video on or before 10 February 2026

1. Team Leader will receive an Application form to provide us the information of all your members.
2. Team Leader will receive a link to register on the Pitchtape Video Submission Portal to submit a 1-page business proposal and record a 5-minute video.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• Personal information collected will only be used for the purpose of application, verification and communication.

• The Organiser reserves the right to use all or any parts of the entries in promotional campaigns. In all cases, no specific notification or payment will be given to the entrants.

• The Organiser reserves the right to amend the program of the rules and regulations.

• Should there be disputes, the Organiser reserves the right to the final decision.
